How it was made
Levin built interactive systems using real-time computation, machine vision, phoneme recognition, genetic algorithms, and physical-digital interfaces. He worked collaboratively on performances, digital artifacts, and virtual environments. Each project deployed a specific technical method: the Audiovisual Environment Suite (2000) used five custom interactive systems; Dialtones (2001) choreographed audience mobile phones as sound sources; The Alphabet Synthesis Machine (2002) ran a genetic algorithm; Re:MARK (2002) applied phoneme recognition to live speech; Messa di Voce (2003) coupled graphics with sound in real time; The Manual Input Sessions (2004) tracked hand and finger gestures.
What works
